Special FRAG fragmentation ammunition from Ukraine causes many times more damage than grenades - they can kill up to 10 soldiers with one hit.

For many years, drones have proven themselves to be excellent weapons, even improvised ones. However, when they have special ammunition at their disposal, the damage multiplies.

Even improvised drones are extremely effective in attacks on various equipment or against infantry, if their operators can drop ammunition with high accuracy. Initially, such attacks used various improvisations in the form of modified grenades and other ammunition, but now there are also specially produced ammunition with high efficiency. One of these is the Ukrainian fragmentation microbomb FRAG-05-975.

A small bomb can destroy even a group of soldiers

For example, dropping various types of grenades from a drone is not a big deal; in practice, it happens all the time, and operators are honing their skills. However, these improvisations often have limited range and are not very effective, although they can kill soldiers in trenches, or a precise hit into a hatch will destroy any tank. But if operators want to achieve the best results, it is better to use specialized ammunition with low weight and destructive power.

One such device was developed by the Ukrainian company Shock Wave Dynamics. TechWp reports that it was made using a 3D printer, and this special fragmentation microbomb contains not only explosives, but also a large number of bullets. One type is a bomb called FRAG-05-975, designed to combat manpower. It weighs 900 grams and contains 975 bullets, which, after hitting the target, fly in all directions. The effective radius of destruction is up to 14 meters, MilIn reports, so if there are 10 soldiers in the area, one microbomb can neutralize them all at once.

Larger bomb for equipment and light fortifications

In addition to anti-personnel ammunition, the Ukrainian company also produces a similar type of bomb, namely FRAG-09-576. This time, however, it is intended for use against unarmored vehicles, light fortifications or various terrains. It is slightly larger than the anti-personnel one, its weight is 1.3 kilograms, and, as the name suggests, it contains only 576 bullets inside. They will probably be slightly larger than in the case of the anti-personnel version, and the radius of effective damage will be up to 8 meters.

The weight of the newly produced ammunition indicates that it can be easily carried by the DJI Mavic 3 drone, the payload of which is up to 2 kilograms, DroneGuru reports. The production method on a 3D printer does not require any complex operations. While such munitions cannot replace artillery or mortar fire, experience in combat situations clearly shows that if they can be deployed in sufficient numbers, they can cause enormous damage.
